At least 30 people killed after terrorist attack in two mosques of Christchurch in New Zealand.
Multiple people have been reported dead after shootings at two mosques in Christchurch on New Zealand's South Island.
Worshippers at both the Al Noor Mosque in central Christchurch and the Linwood Mosque have been shot, with witnesses reporting several have been killed, although officials have not confirmed the number but unofficial sources estimate it near 30 deaths.
The attackers were apprehended by local police staff, there has been some absolute acts of bravery," the commissioner said.
Police were not aware of other people being involved but cannot assume that there are not others at large, he said.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern earlier told a press conference: "Presently the police do have one suspect in custody. However there could be others involved. Also there are multiple scenes involved in this incident as well.
"I'm not currently in a position to confirm the number of deaths or injuries but I have to acknowledge people can see images live from Christchurch.
