Al-Khalid tanks are known as the front line tanks of Pakistan Army.
it was manufactured in Pakistan with the help of China at HIT...
Now it ranked 11th best tank in the World.
But modernisation is not finished.
During 2009, Pak army testing its upgraded unit called Al-Khalid MK-1.
It upgraded with
New Ukrainian made 1500hp turbo diesel engine,
modifications increased capabilities of fire control system,sensors,IBMS,Side-skirts,track pads,auto loader(increased rate of fire,9 rounds per minute)
Ukrainian electro-optical Jammer,guided missile tracking systems,Sagem 3rd generation thermal imagers,new laser range finder and improved cooling system.
New explosive reactive armour(ERA) of Al-Khalid II can defeat all known 120mm or 125mm rounds.
It also provided improved protection from NBC warfare.
It equiped with IBMS and new active threat-protection system.
HIT increased its weapon carring capability to 49 rounds included 125mm HEAT & APFSDS and home made 125mm Naiza DU rounds(this round have 2km effective range)
Small weapons loading also increased as
1,500 rounds for 12.7mm HMG
7,100 rounds for 7.62mm LMG
Note,
These all modifications are belonged to MK-1 version and MK-II version may have better modifications than that.
